So I've been giving my online footprint some thought lately, and I have decided to go non-centralized and secure FOSS. Except for Twitter and Gmail. I still use those for a lot of things.
I'll be moving to Friendica for social networking as soon as I can find the time to get it set up on my server. I decided to go with this because of the ability to communicate with almost every other decentralized network around today.
I'm kicking Facebook to the curb for many reasons, but mostly it's because of the incessant ads and their insistence to show me what they think I need to see. It's just about impossible to get them to show me all posts in chronological order for everyone I follow. If they don't think I would be interested in seeing a particular post from someone, I don't get it see it in my main feed. That is not acceptable. I should be the one to decide what I want to see. Period.
For instant messaging and chat, I'm moving over to the Matrix network. I could set up my own server for this, but honestly that seems like more trouble than it's worth. So, I'll be on matrix.org and can be reached at @artcspgs:matrix.org. I'm using the Element client for this and highly recommend it. It's pretty awesome.
I'm on Twitter at @artcspgs.
If you know my phone number, you can text me. Please don't call. I don't like using the phone very much any more. Text me.
If you know my email address, you can email me or use Gmail chat. It works well.
I'll be posting more about Friendica when I get around to getting it set up, and Matrix. You can google and find more information about them in the meantime.
